Pipeline
Our pipeline gives us an overview of all our planned work - epic commitments we have made with clients as well as non-billable projects we are working on - and compares this to our available capacity as a team.
You can find it here: Workload Pipeline
How do we use it?
We plan in all our work (by days) into the pipeline, billable and non-billable, at an epic level.
Each month has a separate sheet, which calculates what our target is for the month, and what capacity we have. The work is divided by 'confirmed client work', 'unconfirmed client work' and 'internal work', as well as who will be doing the work.
We have a monthly pipeline meeting where we look at the months ahead to see where we have spare capacity, what our priorities are, and if anything planned into the pipeline is no longer up to date.
We also use it as a tool to check our capacity and availability when clients ask us to do work ad hoc.
We also use it to improve our ability to plan in work realistically by reviewing past months, allowing us to see reflect on how we spent our time compared to what we had planned.
